  • DESCRIPTION

“Cum grano salis” was designed by Giovanni Alessi Anghini and Lorenzo Piccione di Pianogrillo with the advice of Fabio Fassone. «Our idea was to create an object that would enhance the use of quality salts originating from different salt works, a table centrepiece that, even in the most demanding mise en places, could also be interpreted as a set for each individual fellow diner» (Giovanni Alessi Anghini, Fabio Fassone and Lorenzo Piccione di Pianogrillo).

Giovanni Alessi Anghini

Giovanni Alessi Anghini was born in Milan in 1981, after conducting his primary studies in Italy and Switzerland; his professional training began at the University of Florence where he focused his attention on courses in cultural sociology and anthropology. In 2002, he returned to Milan with a view to translating and applying his studies to industrial design, collaborating with Stefano Giovannoni and working freelance. Over the following years, he worked with companies such as ALESSI, PHILIPS, VITRA, VERSACE, FOREVERLAMP, both through experience within the companies themselves, and as an external consultant through his own studio, GAA Design Farm, founded in 2006. In the following years his work (notably his first project: POP-UP) was recognized with the 2008 GOOD DESIGN AWARD, and was included in the permanent collection of the Museum of Architecture and Design in Chicago (The Chicago Athenaeum). He begins the year 2011 with a new adventure, aimed at understanding oriental cultures, hence the decision to base his project activities between Lake Maggiore and Asia. www.gaadesign.net
